Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account data: name, email, password hash, timezone, language preference.
• Booking data: lessons booked, times, tutor, notes you write for your tutor.
• Payment data: handled by Stripe and PayPal. We receive a transaction reference and status, never your card number.
• Lesson data: tutor-written notes, AI-generated lesson summaries, and — only with in-lesson consent from both parties — lesson recordings used for quality control.
• Assessment data: your answers to the free band estimator, used to email your result and recommend tutors.

Why we process it

To deliver lessons, take payment, send confirmations and reminders, score tutor quality, and (with consent) send you relevant emails. We do not sell personal data.

Who we share it with

Your tutor (only what they need to teach you), Stripe and PayPal (payments), our email and WhatsApp providers (reminders), and our AI providers (lesson summaries and quality scoring). Processors are bound by contract.

How long we keep it

Account and payment records for as long as required by tax law. Lesson recordings for 90 days unless flagged for a quality dispute. Marketing data until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data by emailing support@openmicenglish.com. We respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for login and preferences, and privacy-respecting analytics. No advertising trackers.
